Position Summary:
MCP Pharmaceuticals is currently seeking a talented Project Manager to join our Portfolio and Program Management department. The Program Manager (PM) has the required skills to form and manage high performing teams that will result in the timely and execution of their assigned programs. The PM is responsible to ensure that the core team, as well as the extended team, is on track and managing their project responsibilities in accordance with the project management plan.
The PM is responsible for providing updates on their respective programs to the Site Management Team and the customer, including an analysis of any challenges in addition to the core team’s proposed recommendations. As the primary point of contact during the development phase, the PM manages strong communications with the customer. The PM communicates issues as appropriate to facilitate rapid decision-making based on facts, circumstances and project requirements ensuring that any changes to project plan are managed appropriately.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead project teams from award of business through commercial launch to ensure quality implementation according to internal and/or customer requirements by utilizing the project management methodology and adhering to the MCP quality policy.

- Provide leadership to the multi-disciplinary project teams by helping to define clear, realistic goals; remove barriers to team progress; facilitate data-driven rapid decision-making.
- Exercise close attention to detail while maintaining ability to view and anticipate project at a high level
- Develop and maintain project plans through utilization of project management tools such as MS Project software, critical path development, and resource management
- Track variances at the program level and maintain accurate budgets, timelines; and provide this information during team meetings and project reviews
- Indirectly manage resources that are consistent with the approved project management plan. Proactively raise project resource and personnel issues with appropriate management
- Coordinate product documentation to ensure compliance and quality of product development is maintained. Ensure project compliance with all FDA (GMP / GCP) regulations and with MCPs standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Represent the project team in project review meetings with customers: the PM is expected to report team progress, highlight risks, clarify issues, recommend and present next stage plans.
- Communicate and manage relationships with multi-functional team members to promote understanding, ownership, and support of the project
- Communicate and manage relationships with functional, site, and executive management by keeping them up to date on project details
- Gain deep understanding of project issues and risks; lead project team through risk mitigation and resolution; understand how and when to effectively elevate to management
- Utilize metrics to measure progress and efficiency of team to meet project goals, timelines and deliverables; proactively identify potential issues
- Assist to evolve the Project Management Process to best meet the goals of the department and the organization
- Continually develop an understanding of the skills and tasks associated with other functions
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science (Chemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutics, etc) or Engineering; advanced degree preferred, or commensurate directly related work experience.
- Strong preference for project management certification (PMP/CMPM)
- Minimum 7 years project management experience within Pharmaceutical industry
- Experience with the pharmaceutical product development processes, cross-functional experience in one or more areas such as Research & Development, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Operations or Regulatory is essential
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent Computer skills including proficiency with MS Office and MS Project
